Safety Report Update Program at Ontario Power Generation (OPG)

Candesco provided and managed technical expertise in the Safety Report Update Program at OPG. Candesco performed the analysis to determine the current licensing basis for the Bruce A, Bruce B, and Pickering stations.

As part of the Licensing Basis Project for Ontario Power Generation, Candesco staff led the reorganization of the existing Safety Report basis structure into a new framework to facilitate efficient updates every three years as mandated by the Regulator. Candesco both developed the framework and applied it to the safety reports for all five licensed facilities (Bruce A, Bruce B, Pickering A, Pickering B and Darlington). Candesco was subsequently contracted three years later to perform the subsequent update of the Bruce A and B safety reports, and provided technical direction to the updates of the other three.

Candesco has also assisted in updating the Safety Report for Hydro Quebec and New Brunswick Power, as well as the MAPLE Reactors and New Processing Facility at Chalk River Laboratories. Candesco is also assisting in the Safety Report update for the NRU facility.
