Safety Case Development

The development of a case to demonstrate the safe operation of a licensed nuclear facility is comprised of many diverse activities, such as environmental assessment, design qualification, audits and self-assessments, in addition to analysis. Proper planning and coordination of these activities is essential to the ultimate success of a safety case. Candesco staff are experienced in the development and execution of safety cases for a wide range of facilities. This includes preparation of license renewals for several nuclear power plants, MAPLE and NPF facilities, and the National Research Universal (NRU) facility. Candesco staff led the development of the case supporting safe operation of the MAPLE reactor, and were integral to the case supporting the implementation of Low Void Reactivity Fuel at Bruce B.
