NWMO Background Papers

Candesco prepared background papers for NWMO on the status of Radiation Protection and on development of a Safety Case for nuclear waste facilities. These papers presented a review of the nature, production and hazards of high-level waste; the protective measures available to mitigate these hazards; and the analysis required to ensure that these measures are sufficient to protect the health, safety and security of workers, the public and the environment and to comply with regulatory requirements. These papers were part of a series of background papers devoted to important topics relevant to the management of high-level radioactive waste.
