Senior Counsel to the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO)

Among other services, a senior Candesco team member participated in the NWMO President’s Assessment Team, which developed a framework for assessing the nuclear waste management options that integrated social and ethical considerations along with technical considerations.

The Assessment Team was asked by NWMO to evaluate a set of approaches for the management of used nuclear fuel in Canada. In particular, the Team was required to (1) develop a rigorous methodology by which such an evaluation could be carried out, and; (2) perform a preliminary assessment using such a methodology on a number of specific options for managing nuclear fuel waste.
